St. Joseph's Parish Annual Yard Sale will take place on Saturday, June 13, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, 828 Buford Road, North Chesterfield. St. Bede concerts

Two upcoming free concerts at St. Bede Church in Williamsburg will feature the Charles Wesley Singers youth choir from Damascus, Maryland, on Tuesday, June 16, at 7 p.m., and the Symphony Orchestra of the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra, music under the direction of Dr. Jean Montes on Wednesday, June 24, at 7 p.m. Both will take place at Saint Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road in Williamsburg. The Shortakes column is reserved for parish, school or community-building events like retreats, a speaker for a Lenten or Advent series, concerts, bazaars and major fundraising efforts.

Gospel choir concert

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, the Gospel Choir of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Norfolk will present a concert at Star of the Sea on Friday, June 26, at 7:30 p.m. St. Mary’s Basilica is the “mother church” of Star of the Sea, and all are invited to this concert. There will be no admission charge, but a good-will offering will be collected and a dessert reception will follow in the parish hall.

 

Vendors needed

Vendors, crafters, artisans, and sellers are needed for the annual Summer Fest of St. John’s Catholic Church, Highland Springs, on Saturday, August 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost for each 10 X 10 outdoor space is $25. Organizers have chosen to keep rates at a minimum, so those interested in reserving a space should call or email with their request. Columbarium availability

St. Jerome Catholic Church, Newport News, is now accepting requests from Catholics beyond the St. Jerome faith community to reserve a niche within the Columbarium located in the Parish Complex. For information concerning the application process, contact Fran Blanchard, 757-877-5021.
