Christmas in July show

The 2nd Annual Christmas in July Craft Show of St. Stephen Martyr Church, Chesapeake, will be held on Saturday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 1544 Battlefield Blvd. The indoor craft show will feature artists and crafters from the Tidewater area, concessions and raffles. All proceeds will go toward sending our youth representatives to the 2016 World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland. Organ dedication

Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, 213 North 25th Street, Richmond, will host the inaugural recital on its newly restored Pomplitz organ on Sunday, June 28, at 3 p.m. Allen Bean will present the program on this historic instrument dating from the late 19th century.

LARCUM gathering

Church of the Holy Apostles, 1593 Lynnhaven Parkway, Virginia Beach, will host the Tidewater

LARCUM Conference on Monday, June 29, 2015 at 7 p.m. Guest Speaker Tim Lim, Ph.D., M.Div. will present “After the Reformation Quincentenary: Envisioning the Future” and will bring attention to how churches might work together ecumenically 500 years after the Reformation. A reception will follow the presentation and ecumenical worship service. All are welcome!

 

Cathedral concert

Philip Lawrence Borter, a cellist who is currently completing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music, will give a concert at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond on Sunday, July 5, at 7 p.m. It will feature works for solo cello by Bach, Smetana, Faure and Bloch. Mr. Borter, who previously lived in Richmond, has performed in concert at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.

 

Choir concert

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, Richmond, will present Nova Scotia’s Provincial Men’s Choir in concert on Saturday, July 11, at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1:15. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at www.stmarysrichmond.org or by calling 804-740-4044 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

 

Masterworks concert

The Masterworks Concert Series to celebrate the anniversary of our country’s independence will be held at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road in Williamsburg, on Friday, July 3, at 7 p.m. Michael Steven Lianos will be the organist. Wounded Warriors Golf Tournament

The Virginia Wounded Warrior Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, September 25, at the Piankatank River Golf Club in Hartfield, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Assembly 3349. All proceeds will benefit the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program. Entry fee is $80 per player which includes use of the practice range, golf cart rental, green fees, on course beverages, and awards dinner. Registration begins at 11:00 AM with a shotgun start at 12:00 PM.
