Richmond Catholic Theatre

Richmond Catholic Theatre will present St. Pope John Paul II’s “The Jeweler’s Shop,” as part of the Acts of Faith Festival on Friday, January 29, and February 5-6, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church and at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, respectively. On Saturday, February 6, there will be a Polish Dinner that benefits Catholic Campus Ministry at Virginia Commonwealth University. The free performances will be followed by a talk with the actors. Taizé Evening Prayer for Jubilee Year of Mercy

Please join us on Friday Evening, January 29 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 909 Rennie Ave, Richmond, at 7:00 p.m. for Evening Prayer. Through singing, readings, prayer and silent meditation in the glow of candlelight, we will pause in our busy schedules for an hour of personal and communal contemplative prayer.


Fun-tastic auction

Church of The Holy Family, 1279 North Great Neck Rd, Virginia Beach, will hold a Fun-tastic Auction on Sunday, January 30, starting at 6:30 p.m. A silent auction offering heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages will start at 6:30 with a live auction beginning at 8. Tickets for $20 will be sold after all weekend Masses and in the parish office during office hours. Tickets will be $25 at the door.


Chorale concert

Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Norfolk will present the F. Ludwig Diehn Chorale from Old Dominion University at a free concert Sunday, January 31, at 4 p.m. The church is at 6400 Newport Ave (behind DePaul Medical Center).


OLMC Open House

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School in Newport News will hold an Open House on Sunday, January 31, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at 52 Harpersville Rd. There will be a presentation at 12:30, followed by tours and open classroom visits until 2. RSVP to 757-596-2754 x133 or


Catholics Come Home

The Catholics Come Home ministry team at St. Michael Parish, Glen Allen, will begin its Landings program for returning Catholics Thursday nights from 7 to 8:30 from Feb. 4 through March 24. Lenten fish fry

Father Habets Assembly 1505 of the Knights of Columbus located at 1236 Prosperity Rd, Virginia Beach, will host a Lenten Fish Fry every Friday night during Lent, beginning on Feb. 12 through March 18. Doors are open from 5:30 to 7:30. Prices are $9 for Adults, $4 for Children 8 -12, and FREE for 7 and under.


Support Group

The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart will offer a Support Group for Separated or Divorced Catholics which will meet the second and fourth Mondays of each month, beginning January 25, at 7 p.m. in the parish office dining room. Organ Concert at the Cathedral

Andrew Kotylo will present a FREE organ concert at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart on Friday, January 29, at 7 p.m. Dr. Kotylo is Associate Director of Music at Trinity Church on the Green in New Haven, Connecticut.


Concert at St. Bede

Violist Michael Strauss will be joined by organist Aaron Renninger, Music Director of St. Bede Parish in Williamsburg, in the second concert of this season’s Trinity Organ Series performing a variety of classical works on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at noon at St. Bede’s, 3686 Ironbound Rd. Guests are invited to bring lunch and meet the artists following the concert. Beverages will be provided.
